The Island Culture & Arts Platform was designed to respect the topography and ecology of Wonsando Island, blending harmoniously with the island’s landscape. Following the path through the pine forest, visitors encounter a structure that appears as part of nature itself, welcoming them as a place of respite between nature and art. Its open structure organically connects the forest, the sea, and people, serving as an open space where staying and moving coexist. Beyond a simple exhibition hall, this venue aspires to be a cultural haven that evolves with nature over time, offering citizens and visitors a space to experience and share art.
Introduction to the Island Culture & Arts Platform
The Island Culture & Arts Platform is a new cultural and artistic space being created in the seaside pine forest of Wonsando Island, in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do. Serving as the main exhibition hall for the Chungnam Island Biennale, this space will later connect the exhibition route linking the five islands off the coast of Boryeong, becoming a hub of the local cultural and artistic ecosystem.
The Island Culture & Arts Platform will host exhibitions, performances, educational programs, and other cultural activities not only during the Biennale but also year-round. As a base for the Chungnam Island Biennale and a multi-cultural space where citizens can regularly enjoy and participate in art, it will offer new experiences where nature and art converge.
